Makers at the Museum – Introduction to Hand Quilting

April 28 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Saturday, April 13 or Sunday, April 28 from 1 pm to 5 pm
Ages 16 and up
Cost: $60 per person. Advance registration is required.

Learn the basics of hand quilting and create your own colorful patchwork coaster (approximately 4”- 4.5” square) under the guidance of a textile artist from the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum. This workshop will focus on beginner-friendly hand quilting techniques (e.g., basic stitches, how to connect squares, how to add backing and batting, etc.) but all skill levels are welcome. These skills will help provide a foundation to inspire future projects at home. Supplies for this project are included in the cost of registration. Light refreshments will be served.

Makers at the Museum is a series hosted by the City of Ottawa Museums and Historic Sites that introduces participants to traditional handicrafts through beginner-friendly workshops led by skilled artisans.

To register, please visit Register Ottawa and search for your preferred session using the activity codes below. The same content will be covered in both sessions; participants only need to register for a single session.
