It’s time to get creative, and a little bit silly, at Nepean Museum! We’ve been inspired by the classic CJOH-TV show “You Can’t Do That On Television”, which got its start right here in Nepean. Kids ages 6 to 9 are invited to join us in the MakerStudio to explore the world of visual effects, Foley artists, costume design…and, of course, slime!
To register, visit register.ottawa.ca(link is external) and search for your preferred sessions using the activity codes listed below.
October 8 (Slime!) – 73650
What is Nepean’s connection to that classic green slime we’ve been seeing on our TV screens for decades? Participants will make and play with slime and oobleck, complete a slime-themed scavenger hunt, and answer slime trivia.
October 22 (Costumes!) – 73651
It’s time to celebrate Halloween with the art of disguise! Participants will explore the evolution of costume design for stage and screen while trying on historical outfits, designing their own fabric, creating costume flipbooks, and working as a team to recreate costumes out of recycled materials.
November 5 (Movie Making!) – 73652
Participants will write, film, and star in their own short film set at Nepean Museum, dive into the history of stunts and visual effects, and work as team to create funny forced-perspective photos.
November 19 (Audio and Sound!) – 73653
Discover how Foley artists create sound effects in film. Participants will build their own instrument, experiment with technology using a STEM invention kit, and play a game of musical chairs.
